Last modified in 1976, the Commonwealth logo had become fragmented, with no comprehensive guidelines and templates available to staff.

The Commonwealth Secretariat recognised this as counter to its core principles as an agent of unity. The strategic brief was to strengthen and make consistent its brand identity across channels, initiatives and audiences.
